The Icelandic horse is very unique, all of the horses found in Iceland today are the descendants of horses taken here by the Vikings. Because space was precious on longboats (Viking ships) only the best horses were selected. Because of that today's Icelandic Horse is a result of thousand years of breeding for superb riding qualities, stamina, speed and comfort so if you're looking for other ways to explore Iceland (without horses, that is) you can still use on our experience and expertise.
